Reading and writing – Language

Children learn to write before they read by building up at first phonetic words by using cardboard letters. The reading program progresses through three levels: pink, blue and green.

Reading materials are colour coded for each level. Colouring shapes drawn with insets develop writing skills and sandpaper letters are experienced by touch as well as by sight and sound. A wide range of story and reference picture books is always available in the classroom.
